Important limits

Read this before you act.

HardWaterFix provides general home-maintenance information, not an inspection of your property or a test of your water.

Water treatment and plumbing

Water hardness is only one part of water quality. A hardness test does not check for bacteria, lead, nitrates, arsenic, or other possible contaminants. Follow local water-authority advice for drinking-water testing and use a certified laboratory when appropriate. Use a licensed or otherwise qualified professional where plumbing codes, electrical work, pressure systems, or complex water-treatment installation require it.

Cleaning products and surfaces

Always read the cleaner's label and the surface or appliance manufacturer's instructions. Acids can damage natural stone, grout, coatings, some metals and other sensitive finishes. Test a compatible cleaner on an inconspicuous area when the product directions permit. Never mix household bleach with vinegar, acids, ammonia, or other cleaning products. Dangerous gases or reactions can result. Use one product at a time, rinse as directed, and ventilate the area.

Calculators, estimates and products

Our sizing calculator provides a rough planning estimate from information entered by the reader. Actual equipment selection depends on a confirmed water analysis, iron and manganese levels, flow rate, household use, manufacturer capacity ratings, local rules and maintenance requirements. We do not guarantee product performance, savings, or a particular outcome.
